Korful-an aromatic rhizome of a plant(zingiberaceae family)




The scientific name of the plant is Amomum linguiforme Benth .
In Assamese homes it is used as mouth refreshing item, specially used to take with bettle nut.
There is a colour less oil present in Korful where a medicinal chemical constituent present called Methyl Chavicol.
the oil in korful contains-
1.camphene
2.myrecene
3.limonene
4.borneol
5.P-cymene
6.linalool
7.pinene
8.anisaldehyde


The Methyl Chavicol can be converted to Anethole. Anethole is used in Medicines for teeth and gum.

The % of Methyl Chavicol contain in a Korful rhizome is very less, that's why it is economically not cultivated.
